Making Time For You When You Share An Income

When I got my first “big girl job” out of college there was a feeling of self accomplishment being able to support myself on my own income. If I wanted a to go shopping, I went shopping. If I wanted to take a trip, I saved and then took a trip. The world was my oyster. Today, I would still say that the world is my oyster, but I also have to think about and plan for more than myself. After we said “I do”, my husband and I merged our bank accounts and decided to share all of our assets equally.

How To Afford Anything You Want

The Two Travel Planning and Budgeting Approaches

There are two basic approaches to planning and budgeting travel.

  1. Bucket List Travel – When you know the where. If the destination is really important to you (and your travel style – whether it’s luxury, eating at special restaurants, taking classes, or relaxing at a resort) are not flexible then your planning starts with how much money the trip will actually cost.
  2. Just Go Travel – When your going to go with whatever money you have. If the fact that you’re traveling is more important than where and how, then your planning is based on the money you actually have. In each case, you need to know your budget.
