Mr. Toot’s in Capitola, California was recommended to me by a Capitola local and I am glad it was. It’s a charming coffee shop with a warm and inviting atmosphere. It’s in a great location close to the beach, and the views of the ocean and colorful houses are awesome.
Be careful when going because the front door can be easily missed. You’ll have to walk up a small flight of stairs, and then you’ll be in the main space. The barista was very friendly and had a great conversation with me while I waited for my drink.
The coffee beans are locally roasted and organic/fair trade. My latte was very good, and my husband’s coffee was hot and tasty as well. They also serve a couple of pastries (I got the torte) which ended up being pretty delicious and paired very nicely with my drink. It was also very fairly priced – we spent around $7 (2 drinks and a pastry).
There was plenty of seating – tables & chairs, couches and an outside patio. I enjoyed my time conversing with a couple friends, but it would also be a great place to relax, read a book, or get some work done.
They also have local art on display which you can purchase, and I saw a poster for live music which I guess they host on certain nights.
I had a great time at Mr. Toot’s and I’d recommend a pit stop here before heading to the beach.
